Primer: Unit 03, Lesson 5

Vocab: Tempo

Goal: At the end of this lesson, students should be able to differentiate different tempos by ear, and perform a song at different speeds set by the instructor. We will not be attempting to "speed up" or "slow down" during this song, despite what the lesson book suggests. 


Metric: Ensure that your student has not confused dynamics with tempo. It is common for students who are attempting to play soft notes to slow down, and vice versa. Challenge your student to play Sea Story loudly but slowly, or softly but quietly.
