Primer: Unit 02, Lesson 2

Technique: Independent Fingers

Repeated Notes, Walking Technique, Double Bar Line

Goal: At the end of this lesson, students should be able to play fingers 2 or 3 individually while keeping a strong, relaxed, curved hand shape. They should be lifting the arm between each note and "dropping" the hand on a different finger. They should also be able to recognize repeated notes.

Metric: Be careful that your student does not attempt to transfer the weight of their arm from one finger to the next yet. This exercize is about strengthening individual fingers and hand shape, and not about teaching legato movement.
